The electric winch is the most common type of winch; it relies on the vehicle's own electrical system for power. The operating voltages for electric winches (specifically ATV DJ models) include high-voltage options-380V, 220V, and 110V-as well as low-voltage options: 36V, 24V, and 12V (note that 12V is Direct Current [DC], while 220V is Alternating Current [AC]).

A key advantage of the electric winch-one unmatched by other types-is its ability to function essentially normally even if the vehicle's engine has stalled. This feature makes it particularly advantageous for use in water-prone environments. Furthermore, installation is straightforward, allowing for mounting in multiple locations and rapid relocation.
